Best golf driver for beginner?

probably does not matter if you are just starting out. i would not even suggest hitting a driver until you can hit a 3-wood consistently. the driver is one of the hardest clubs in the bag to hit.

once you can hit it, brand doesn’t really matter until you get halfway decent at the game, but i would probably start with a 10 degree loft.

you can’t trust a generalized answer, as it may not be right for you, the only thing you can do is go to your local golf shop, and test each one that you find fitting.

I say that if you’re a beginner, get good irons and get a good swing. I don’t use my woods ever. They are so risky when you’re just starting and the irons are so much more dependable. A wood with a good swing will only take you maybe 50yd more than a good 3 iron hit, and it takes a lot more work to get your wood swing as good as your iron swing. It’s not worth the effort. The truth is, rarely will the 50+ yds save you a stroke. All too often will it cost you a couple when you hook or slice.

If you really want a wood, I’d go with a 3 wood rather than a driver so that you can hit it from the fairway.

I say that you should start with the irons. When you get better then begin using the woods. Then finally try the drivers.

If you have never hit a driver or played golf..then I woul djust suggest playing with a 5 iron only…hit it all the time until you are on the green..all you have to do is open up the face of the club as you get closer to the green..If you really want to HIT a driver…then I would suggest a used one..about 12 degree loft, regular shaft…but do not hit the driver unless you can hit a 5 iron really good..

unfortunatly a good driver for a beginer are thos big ol’ square headed ones u see..like the burner…or the nike sasquash…they are expensive though. they are good cause they have large sweet spots…unfortunatly no golf club can correct a bad swing thoughh…so learn to swing real good..and then just about any driver will do…

if you love the game enough to want to play again and again…i might suggest you go out and buy a nice one…in the range of 200-400 bucks…or a used one that is in impecable shape…

hey, its your driver…its the way your gonna start about 13 out of the 18 holes on a course, you should really put some time into it…

go to a golf galaxy or golf smith, or any golf specific store in your area, that has real knowledgable guys helpin out…i did it this year when i bought my irons…and at the end of the day, i was so happy that a guy spent some real time with me…we took like 9 different clubs to their hitting area and smacked away on one of those digital screens to see which one really did it for me…

once you get that kinda pricy but great for just you club…you make sure you take good care of it, keep it in its lil booty and godforbid it does you wrong here and there…dont get mean with it…cause a broken 300 dollar driver is actually a worthles driver..

    good luck

No matter what brand, go with a 10.5 degree driver. With that said, check out rockbottomgolf.com….They have a Tommy Armour Torch 460cc driver for $50. It’s a pretty solid driver with a classic design. They also have the Clevland Hibore driver for $119. Never tried it, but it’s pretty new technology. Also, if you can find a good price on a Nicklaus AirMax DPT, it is a very straight driver. Not as long as a R7, but very straight.
