Lob Wedge bounce help?

I just went out to Golf Town to go and purchase a lob wedge. I have never owned one before, so i wasn’t completely sure what bounce was. After a little research, i realized that bounce is the amount the leading edge on the wedge sits up from the ground. With this in mind, I went to Golf Town. I looked at all the wedges and I narrowed it down to the two i liked the most: the Titleist Vokey Spin Milled and the Cleveland CG14. After back and forth for about an hour, i decided to go with the Vokey Design. But when i got home, i started hitting half swing pitches in my basement, when i noticed the ball wasn’t getting as much loft as i anticipated from a lob wedge. I was impressed though how easily i got the ball to check up. Anyways i checked the bottom of the club and found that the bounce is 4. So now i am wondering, did I make the right call? I plan on using my lob wedge from 40- yards from the green. I want the ball to check easy from this range. I have a Top Flite 56 Sand Wedge also.
Also, what does bounce actually do?
What is the difference in ball flight/speed/spin between a lob wedge with 4 bounce and one with 8?

Bounce is to prevent the leading edge from digging into the turf even when the club is hit with a descending blow. The difference you will notice between high and low bounce is more of a forgiveness issue. A higher bounce will help prevent laying sod over the back of the ball if you hit it fat. A lower bounce helps you get under the ball on tighter lies. For 40 yards and in, you probably made a good choice with the low bounce Vokey. I didn’t have the same trajectory issue with my Vokey, so I can’t help you there, but why fix it if it works?

I like to have a high, and low bounce option. I’ll use the high option from sand, really thick rough, and hard-pan lies (more forgiving), and I use the low bounce the rest of the time.

what are the best type of golf balls to use?

I go golfing every so often, but mostly at a par 3 what are the best golf balls to use , is there a difference if by a regulation or par3?

You DON’T need Pro V1s. You’re really going to pay 45 bucks a dozen to play par 3s? Don’t get me wrong, I love playing Titleist balls, but until I get better I’ll stick to playing NXTs. My personal opinion is get a ball that feels both soft and explosive off your clubs when you hit them. Usually that means spending about $20 to $25 a dozen. I like any titlleists, and Callaway Big Bertha and HX Hots. A good idea is go to a Play It Again Sports and try a variety of balls for cheap, then decide which ones you like enough to buy new.

If you are still a beginning golfer, you don’t have enough skill to take advantage of expensive balls, just play what feels good and gives you some confidence.

how can i find teaching pro for "stack and tilt" golf swing in southern CA?

I bought dvd set for "stack and tilt" golf swing. And i really want to learn that swing with teaching pro.

To bad you live in in Southern CAL, I would be glad to help you, but 1700 miles is a long journey for a golf lesson. My recommendation is to find a good PGA teaching professional who would be will to look over the DVD set and study the "Stack and Tilt" swing. While the stack and tilt does introduce some new ideas, the Basic fundamentals of the golf swing is very similar. A teaching professional who understands the swing will be able to look over the DVD set and assist you in developing your " Stack and Tilt" swing. The trick might be finding a teaching professional who is willing to do this, but trust me there will be ones that will do this.

As a teaching professional myself I love studying different types of swings, and have taught people based on request both the "Stack and Tilt" and The " One Plane Swing" While both of these have some differences I don’t have a problem teaching different swings and actually enjoy it.

I would say that the "Stack and Tilt" swing is really modeled around a younger more flexible type of golfer, and is not an "easier" type of golf swing its simply one the some people have had better success with, especially low- handicapers how have a tendency of hanging back on their right side to long. However, the "Stack and Tilt" as some very good results for the right players.

I hope this answers your question. If not I will look for another posting from you. Good Luck in your search!!

do the golf balls you use really make a differnce?

it seems like when i go golfing if i hit a nike or titleiest ball it is always a sucky shot…so then i tried a top-flite ball and i hit the ball almost perfect….so is it just in my mind that im using a better ball so i try harder or are more expensive balls desighned for pros?

The skill level of a player should dictate the type of ball they use. This includes the players desire and ability to spin the ball, and the players swing speed.

You also need to look at the compression of the balls you are buying. If you are a senior player, Wilson has a ball called the 50/50 that is an outstanding ball with a very low compression rate. Meaning you don’t have to swing as fast to compress the ball. If you have a medium swing speed you may want to look at balls that state low compression of the box i.e. noodle and loco. For the players that can swing faster you can play with a variety of other balls.

The construction of the ball also plays a huge factor in the performance of the ball. Most cheap balls are a 2 piece balls. This means that the ball has a cover and a core. These balls are primarily distance balls and don’t give you much spin. They usually run you up to $20 a box. There are also 3 piece hybrid balls. These balls have a core, mantle, and cover. The mantles primary purpose is to create spin for the shot. These balls are usually around $25 a box. Then you have a 3-piece normal ball. The difference here is the cover of this ball is made of a higher quality material to grip the grooves on the club better creating more spin. They can run you around $50 a box. The only four piece ball currently on the market is the Nike one platinum. This ball has and additional mantle, again adding to the spin rate you achieve on the ball. I personally feel this is the best ball on the market and apparently so does Tiger Woods. These ball cost $40 a box.

So, yes the ball makes a huge difference in your game. Hope this helps.

What are the Top 10 Most Expensive Brands of Golf Balls!?!?

like I know the Titleist Pro V1 is up there, but what else, the Gamer?

The Gamer is cheap in comparison to the Pro V1. It costs half as much as the Pro V1. The Pro V1 and V1x will run you over 40 bucks just like the Nike One Tour and Tour D, Srixon Z-Star, Bridgestone Tour series(B-330, 330s and 330rx), TaylorMade TP Red and Black, Callaway Tour i and Tour ix.

Will A decent golf club driver improve my game?

I use a donnay evolution driver at the moment, it cost £100 for 12 clubs so that works out at about £8. I prefer the donnay 3 wood as the 1 wood hits only about the same distance and normally with much more slice

I am now looking at getting a decent driver with a 460cc head, I have found the Ben Sayers Benny for £70. I don’t really care what make I get I just want to make sure I am going to be able to hit it about 40 yards further and more accurately than my 8 quid donnay.

I dont have long so got to be quick.

The donnay may be the best club for you…..also it could be the worst….

Each club is made differently (shaft, loft, kick points, grip etc)

Go to American Golf (we have one in the UK)

Tell them to same thing and you can try out different drivers on the machine they have. From this they will be able to tell you/ help you with what driver will suit you the best by narrowing down points. eg. swing speed to pick a shaft. Loft of hit for the loft of the club.

etc etc etc

good luck

ps I did this and I love the driver I have. I have only a cheapish Jack Nicklous driver and I was aiming for a top dog dollar expensive thing

if you golf help me out?

the other day i was at the driving range and i hit the ball and i hit it good but i broke my driver, and i promise i did not hit the groung first but that is not the question. here is the question, my friend gave me two drivers for free and he wants one of them back, and he doesnt care which one. so now i have to decide which one i want. and the chocies are a top flite cannon or a knight infa-red. But the knight infa-red has two dents on the bottom. so which one should i use. and i have already hit them and they are both equaly bad. So which one.

If you don’t really like either of them, give them both back and go have your driver re-shafted or shop around until you find the right club for you.

Best of luck and keep it in the fairway.
