What is the best driver out on the market?
Every major manufacturer has at least 3 or 4 very good drivers on the market today. Like the others were saying, it really depends on personal preference and what you are wanting (or willing) to spend.
2 tips:
1. Unless money is not a concern, don’t buy the current year’s model. Last year’s models are still awesome clubs, but they’re a lot less expensive now. (Callaway FT-5, Taylor Made R7, Cleveland Hi-Bore line, even Titleist 905 line.)
One big exception is the Callaway FT-i (the square driver) — the newer FT-iQ is MUCH better in several ways.
2. When you’re deciding what is "best" for your game, pay just as much attention to the shaft as you do the clubhead. Shafts are so advanced these days that they can do just as much to help you pick up extra yards and keep a better ball flight as the clubhead itself. A good club fitter can tell you in 10 or 15 minutes what shaft would work best with your particular swing.
I play a Taylor Made R-7 460TP with a Matrix Ozik X-Con 6 shaft. The Callaway FT-5 is also an awesome club, and their reps usually do a good job getting you fit.
