i just bought the new titleist 907 d2 and i admit its easy to hit but i just pulled out my 975 J from the garage and im a 2 handicap so i hit clubs fairly crisp and i must admit my 975 J is pretty much the same distance compared to these 460 drivers. i do understand its easier to hit 460 cc but i was just curious of what you guys think? do they help you more then they seem to help me?..to me the new drivers dont differ much for me and im thinking of returning my driver back for the 90% i’d get back.
I’m an 8 hdcp and I make good contact with the ball, and I agree with you here. I dont see much of an advantage of this new technology over the old technology as long as both are in good shape.
I think tech wise they have reached the max distance that they can get and still make a club legal. Now they are focusing on forgiveness, as that is all they can really improve.
I’m a huge believer in confidence in golf having a big deal to do with my swing and other stuff. So as long as you still have confidence in your 975 J, and you aren’t seeing any big difference in distance or anything like that, then there is no reason why you shouldn’t keep it, unless its in not so great condition. That being said I’m sure the 907 d2 is supperior technology, but what does technology mean if it doesn’t show results.

I’m buying my husband a new golf driver for Valentines Day…..Im clueless when it comes to golf and was hoping someone would know what to look for when buying a driver so I don’t look like a complete idiot at the golf store. Also, what is the price range for a new driver???? Thanks!
When buying golf drivers these are some of the things to look for.
Head size (common with new drivers 460cc)
Swing weight (D0 – D5)
Shaft (stiff, flex, there are different ranges for both)
Shaft lenght (depends how tall you are)
Driver head offset (promotes right to left ball flight)
Driver head loft angle (9.5 – 12.5 degrees)
Lie angle
Bounce
My suggestion is to get him fitted for one as a gift. They will check his swing speed for the right kind of shaft. Depending how good your husband is will depend on the type of driver head, angle etc,… he will want to improve his game.
Good brands are Ping G10, Taylor Made R7, Cleveland HiBore have fun !!

I notice all these sites like this one for instance http://www.golfclubsandmore.com/ that make clone golf drivers. Has anyone ever tried these?? If so are they worth buying?
I personally would like to buy a used brand name club rather than a clone. I have bought quite a few drivers and fairway woods (Adams, Mizuno, Ping) from a couple of reputable eBayers. The clubs were in very good shape and the prices are very reasonable. In my opinion, clones are made from cheaper materials and they will never be as good as the originals.

According to one of my mates,
some of the golf drivers are gonna be made illegal in competitions due to the weights in them on the 1st of some month.
Does anyone know a list of the clubs that will be made illegal becaue I use a Nike Sumo 2007 and I only just got it so it would be a shame to have to get a new one
This link takes you directly to the R&A nonconforming driver list: http://www.randa.org/index.cfm?action=rules.equipment.nonconfdrivers
