is the Driver golf club always the longest in length?

my grandma just gave me my grandpa’s and im about to start so can anyone help me

Yes. 45" is the standard length that many manufacturers follow.

Recently, with lighter shaft and bigger club head, some companies (e.g. Nike, TaylorMade) have lengthened the stock driver length (e.g. Nike Sumo 45.75", TaylorMade Burner 46").

They claim their drivers add 10 more yards….which is true, but they don’t normally mention the fact that they’ve also increased the shaft by almost an inch. The longer the shaft, the further the ball will fly, but the harder to make solid contact.

Gotta love their marketing department!! :-)

Why does my golf swing always break during a round?

I always start well but my swing always breaks down in the middle of a round and I start slicing everything right and can’t seem to get my good swing back.
Anyone who plays golf will appreciate how frustrating this is for me.

If anyone has any suggestions or advice then please tell, I’m all ears!!

Lack of stamina , you should spend some time in the gym.

What does the nike Juice golf ball box warning label say?

I know its a joke but I can’t find out what it says

Attention: A user’s enhanced distance and scoring may adversely affect the moods of playing partners. While the flight and trajectory of the Juice ball are extraordinary, this does not give the player the ability to fly. As always, Nike Golf recommends that you play responsibly.

Dosage: Start with one Juice ball in the morning. Take with black coffee. Will take effect immediately after stretching and wagering are complete. Do take Juice and drive

Lob Wedge bounce help?

I just went out to Golf Town to go and purchase a lob wedge. I have never owned one before, so i wasn’t completely sure what bounce was. After a little research, i realized that bounce is the amount the leading edge on the wedge sits up from the ground. With this in mind, I went to Golf Town. I looked at all the wedges and I narrowed it down to the two i liked the most: the Titleist Vokey Spin Milled and the Cleveland CG14. After back and forth for about an hour, i decided to go with the Vokey Design. But when i got home, i started hitting half swing pitches in my basement, when i noticed the ball wasn’t getting as much loft as i anticipated from a lob wedge. I was impressed though how easily i got the ball to check up. Anyways i checked the bottom of the club and found that the bounce is 4. So now i am wondering, did I make the right call? I plan on using my lob wedge from 40- yards from the green. I want the ball to check easy from this range. I have a Top Flite 56 Sand Wedge also.
Also, what does bounce actually do?
What is the difference in ball flight/speed/spin between a lob wedge with 4 bounce and one with 8?

Bounce is to prevent the leading edge from digging into the turf even when the club is hit with a descending blow. The difference you will notice between high and low bounce is more of a forgiveness issue. A higher bounce will help prevent laying sod over the back of the ball if you hit it fat. A lower bounce helps you get under the ball on tighter lies. For 40 yards and in, you probably made a good choice with the low bounce Vokey. I didn’t have the same trajectory issue with my Vokey, so I can’t help you there, but why fix it if it works?

I like to have a high, and low bounce option. I’ll use the high option from sand, really thick rough, and hard-pan lies (more forgiving), and I use the low bounce the rest of the time.

What ball should I use?

I am getting a new set of clubs for Christmas (long way off, I know, but today was like 55*F and raining and not golf weather, and my course will be closed soon), BUT: I am a 14 year old (6′1") who can drive 190-205, but I am on a budget. At my Target, they have Callaways, Nike, and Top-Flite among others.

Callaway and Nike both have excellent stuff, but the Top-Flite is way better budget wise.

So, in the Top-Flite’s I am deciding between D2 Distance-for more distance or D2 Feel-Soft and is good on and around greens.

I would really like honest opinion about whether I should get a soft ball that feels great off the club and good for scoring, or one a little firmer, but not too hard, that gives me about 5-15 more yards off the tee.
I’m actually just a beginner- started a couple months ago, so am I doing pretty good distancewise (190-205)?

Well il be honost. but its to improve your game so dont take it the wrong way. Im guessing sense you can only drive 190-205 that your not a great golfer. But i would recommend a top flite because they are firmer and you wont hit as many hooks or slices with a lower spin ball (firmer ball is the same thing). And once you get better move up to a soft ball and your game will get even better.

Good luck.

Edit: Thats what i expected, probably a beginner. and 205 is really good for a beginner so you want to get more accuracy out of your ball which is why you should use a harder ball (Top Flite)

do the golf balls you use really make a differnce?

it seems like when i go golfing if i hit a nike or titleiest ball it is always a sucky shot…so then i tried a top-flite ball and i hit the ball almost perfect….so is it just in my mind that im using a better ball so i try harder or are more expensive balls desighned for pros?

The skill level of a player should dictate the type of ball they use. This includes the players desire and ability to spin the ball, and the players swing speed.

You also need to look at the compression of the balls you are buying. If you are a senior player, Wilson has a ball called the 50/50 that is an outstanding ball with a very low compression rate. Meaning you don’t have to swing as fast to compress the ball. If you have a medium swing speed you may want to look at balls that state low compression of the box i.e. noodle and loco. For the players that can swing faster you can play with a variety of other balls.

The construction of the ball also plays a huge factor in the performance of the ball. Most cheap balls are a 2 piece balls. This means that the ball has a cover and a core. These balls are primarily distance balls and don’t give you much spin. They usually run you up to $20 a box. There are also 3 piece hybrid balls. These balls have a core, mantle, and cover. The mantles primary purpose is to create spin for the shot. These balls are usually around $25 a box. Then you have a 3-piece normal ball. The difference here is the cover of this ball is made of a higher quality material to grip the grooves on the club better creating more spin. They can run you around $50 a box. The only four piece ball currently on the market is the Nike one platinum. This ball has and additional mantle, again adding to the spin rate you achieve on the ball. I personally feel this is the best ball on the market and apparently so does Tiger Woods. These ball cost $40 a box.

So, yes the ball makes a huge difference in your game. Hope this helps.

How long should my golf club be specificly my driver?

I very new to golfing im 5"1 and i want a new club because my old 1 im for sure is way too long. any1 know?

Hey GuitarMan, I am a scratch professional and I have been playing Guitar since high school. It sounds like you are just getting into the game, so I would reccomend that you use a 3 wood from the tee – typically it is 43 inches compared to 45 inches for a driver – the higher loft of a 3 wood will also give you a consistently straighter ball flight. Although you are short, this does not necessarily mean that you need shorter clubs – proper length is determined by your wrist to floor measurement. your height really will require you to swing around your body more than up and down. Hope this helps, always happy to help a fellow Guitarist !

Who chooses the brand of golf ball in Ryder Cup play?

Anthony Kim uses Nike golf balls. Phil Mickleson uses Callaway golf balls. How do they decide which brand to use in alternate shot play?

In alternate shot play, typically the players play their own respective balls of choice (ie, Kim with a Nike and Phil with a Callaway). They simply take the other players ball and replace it in the exact same position, this is why you always see so many officials in each group.

During a golf swing, should the left leg be straightened out?

For a right handed person’s golf swing, should the left leg "post up" and straighten out during the down swing? Perhaps not immediately, but what should the left leg be like before impact, at impact, and after impact on the follow through? Thanks

As a right hander, I was always taught that I had to hit against a firm left side during the downswing and follow thru. The side is firm just prior to impact as well as after impact when the force turns the front of the body to face the intended target line..

is the Nike Platinum golf ball good for wedge spin around the green?

and what are some good tips for adding more spin?
my swing speed is about 90-110 mph……

In a golf ball dedicated isue of GOLF magazine last year, with reviews of almost every ball on the market, the Platinum was voted as the "spin-iest" ball available. BUT that being said, you have to really have a tour level swing speed to tap into what that ball can do…less than 105-100mph and you’re not tapping into it.

As far as creating more spin…you can always re-sharpen your grooves on your wedges….you can buy a new wedge that has a different type groove….or you can learn to really hit down on the ball to create the backspin.

Good luck!
